The non-profit organisation "Orpheus Trust - Organisation dedicated to the research and promotion of persecuted and forgotten music" was founded in 1996 as a private initiave with the goal of giving the music of musicians persecuted and murdered by the nazi-regime the place it deserves. The activites of the Trust include three main areas:

- Research and Documentation: an "Österreiches Handbuch der verfolgten Musik" (working title) is being prepared
- Musical Performances and Events: Since 1996 over 150 concerts, exhibits, lectures and symposiums
- Promotion: publicly accessible archive, databases with appx. 4500 musicians and 8000 works.

The organisation now has over 400 members who support the work of the Trust with their membership.
